The beating heart of the region is certainly Reggio Calabria, which inevitably identifies itself with its Falcomatà waterfront so beloved by D’Annunzio and with the Riace Bronzes preserved, along with other precious artifacts, inside the MaRC museum. The entire province of Reggio Calabria is a treasure chest of treasures, with an incredible variety of landscapes, starting with its coastline and its crystal clear sea, whose seabed abounds with posidonia, sea fans and cute seahorses.

Then there is Aspromonte, the Geopark declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where it is possible to organize excursions among forests, curiously shaped rocks and streams: in Gambarie it is also possible to ski with a view of the Strait of Messina. Among the most carrier areas of the province is the Grecanica Area where an ancient Greek-Calabrian dialect is still spoken: in the small village of Bova, located 850 meters above sea level overlooking the Jasmine Coast, there is a museum dedicated to this Hellenic language, as well as the splendid Norman Cathedral dating back to the 9th century. In Bova there is the Procession of the Puppets, one of the oldest rituals in the Gregorian Area that originated from the cult of Demeter and Persephone. Bova is just one of the most beautiful villages in the province of Reggio Calabria, along with Stilo, a small Byzantine jewel that gave birth to the philosopher Tommaso Campanella, Gerace, located in the heart of the “Aspromonte National Park,” and the picturesque fishing village of Chianalea di Scilla: here there is a much-loved festival dedicated to swordfish, one of the typical delicacies of the Calabrian food and wine heritage.
