In the three-day festival dedicated to the return of the goats from the pastures, the taste of Fiemme will triumph in Cavalese among Capreritivi, Caprericene, Magnifici Prodotti di Fiemme, street food, Cembra Valley wines, goat excellences and local flavors.
Saturday, September 9, Via Ress will host the Artisan Market. On Sunday, Sept. 10, in addition to the traditional Desmontegada Market, the Farmer’s Market will be set up on Bronzetti Street.
Coloring the event will be the traveling folk, transhumance exhibition, parade of vintage tractors and wagons, wagon rides, soft rides with llamas and alpacas, and children’s art workshops.
The taste of Val di Fiemme will become more intense and lively during the Desmontegada delle Caore festival, Sept. 8-10, 2023, organized by the Municipality of Cavalese and the Fiemme Goat Breeders Association, with the collaboration of APT Fiemme and Cembra, the Dolomites Cheese Route and the Magnifica Fiemme association.
If the cathartic moment of the festival will be Sunday, September 10, in Cavalese, with the parade of tractors and vintage wagons in the morning and the joyful parade in the village of goats returning from the pastures, taste will triumph on the table already from the beginning of the week with the review of the Magnificent Products of Fiemme of the restaurants and agritur adhering to the Dolomites Cheese Route, the club Tradition and Taste of Fiemme or located in the municipality of Cavalese. Among their themed dishes will feature the excellence of Val di Fiemme, primarily Fior di capra cheese, as well as meats and cold cuts and many other local products.
The flavor of Val di Fiemme will become more authentic from Friday, September 8, with “Brunch at Maso Corradini” in Castello di Fiemme, a visit to “Albeinmalga” at Malga Sadole, and “A Goat Afternoon” at Malga Agnelezza. Saturday and Sunday will feature tasty “Capreritivi” (Birroteca & Food Dante No. 6, Welponer Delights, Sweet Fiemme and Betta Bakery).
Saturday, Sept. 9, will have a morning as sweet as honey and an afternoon is as soft as wool. At 10 a.m. at Pieve Park, the workshop “I Love Bees” will come to life, with beekeeper Beniamino and the educational hive of the Fiemme Fassa Cembra Beekeepers Association.
At 11 a.m., a Magnificent Aperitif with Cembrani Doc wines and Tenuta Gottardi will be narrated by the producers of Maso di Tito Speck and Caseificio Sociale Val di Fiemme in the Revelin of the Palace of the Magnificent Community of Femme. At 4 p.m., “The soft ride” with llamas and alpacas will start from Piazza Dante. Through the streets of Cavalese it will be possible to ride in a carriage. Folk music will also be traveling. If Via Ress will host the Saturday afternoon Craft Market, Ress Square will invite visitors to admire Valentina Musumeci’s photo exhibition “A Year with Shepherd Baio” on the occasion of the first Transhumance Festival. On Saturday, the new “Caprericene” will also take the stage, where dishes created by restaurateurs from Cavalese, goat cheeses from the Caseificio Sociale Val di Fiemme and wines from the Val di Cembra will conquer the palate. If Restaurant Le Rais will offer an original Erborinato di capra with wines from Villa Corniole, Restaurant La Stüa will put on the table “Polenta Biota,” typical dishes made with polenta and specialties of Fiemme cuisine to be enjoyed in Piazza Dante or in the stube.
On Sunday, September 10, the town will wake up to the music of a traveling folk concert, a parade of vintage tractors and floats, and the colors and scents of the Farmer’s Market and the Desmontegada Market, where people will also witness the work of weaving, turning and weaving craftsmen. Creativity will explode with ArteSte children’s workshops from 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 6 p.m.
While waiting for the parade of goats, decked out in flowers, lunch can be enjoyed in Scopoli Square, with the inevitable typical km0 dish and tasty fortaias from the Fiemme Goat Breeders Association. The Desmontegada Market will offer Street Food and in Piazza Dante, at the La Stüa Restaurant, polenta, cheese, luganeghe, sauerkraut, tripe in broth, goulash, dumplings, and fortaie in the outdoor terrace or in the stube will triumph.
At 2 p.m. the little goats, the big stars of an overwhelming festival celebrating the return from the pastures, will cross the village. Their bleats will echo through wings of crowds, with filmmakers and photographers ready to document the passage and the most curious goat hairstyles. At 3 p.m., the Town Hall Face of Casa Ress, will host the children’s art workshop “Drawing with el bol de besa.”
On the occasion of Desmontegada, on Sunday, Sept. 10, the Alpe Cermis ski lifts will offer, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the complete Cavalese-Fondovalle-Paion route at 6 euros and the Fondovalle-Cavalese center parking lot route at 3.50 (free for children under 8).
