It is in November that Piedmont releases all its poetry. The colors of autumn enhance the essence of its villages. Grinzane Cavour, Vogogna, Avigliana, Serralunga d’Alba and Agliè are certainly among the most spectacular.

Here autumn is completed with the wonder of each individual center, mingling with the treasures of a unique landscape, where nature seems to welcome, wrap, embrace the architectural treasures, where the magic of the foliage is enhanced and in turn enhances these five small centers of art and history.

Grinzane Cavour deserves a visit in November, even for the colors that go from intense yellow to red, passing through orange, the historic vineyards that frame one of the most beautiful castles of the Langhe, dating back to the 12th century and the youth residence of the great statesman Camillo Benso count of Cavour, now home to the Piedmont Regional Enoteca Museum. The imposing manor strongly characterizes the village surrounded by delightful hills and panoramic views of the colorful autumn hills that run towards the nearby Alba.

A delightful medieval village in the heart of the Ossola Valley, Vogogna is part of the Val Grande National Park, which offers stunning scenery and colors in November. Of the park Vogogna is the center that best preserved traces of its past and above all of that first half of the XIV century in which it became the administrative center of the lower Ossola by order of the noble family of the Visconti family. A testimony of the important past are the fourteenth-century Palazzo Pretorio, the fourteenth-century Castello Visconteo, the parish church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the sixteenth-century Oratory of the Cemetery, formerly the church of the Convent of the Serviti. In the hamlet of Genestredo it is worth seeing the Fortress of Longobard origin which dominates the valley.

The spectacle of the vineyards in November is, in Serralunga d’Alba, one of the most beautiful in all. A succession of grapevines that are lost on the horizon characterize this small village of the lands of Barolo that in November offers a postcard scenery. The castle dominates the village and the surrounding landscape with the elegant verticality of its structures dating back to the early part of the fourteenth century. Decorated with precious gable mullioned windows and bands of small arches, it strongly characterizes the landscape and stands out above the built-up area, which, leaning against its walls, serves as a frame. In the restaurants of Serralunga you can taste the traditional Piedmontese dishes, from tajarin to truffle to hazelnut cake.

Agliè

Among the main towns of the Canavese area, Agliè is the land of one of the most beloved Italian authors, Guido Gozzano.
