We get from Abetone Cutigliano the news that from tomorrow, November 18, 2017, thanks to the first snow that has fallen on the slopes in the past few days, some plants can be opened, thus inaugurating the Pistoise ski season.
It is not yet clear the map of the plants that will be operational, but it may seem to be already largely in both the areas of Abetone and Doganaccia. A great news given the serious delays in the opening that these plants suffered in the past seasons, especially last year.
Over 60 centimeters of snow fell on the Abetone and as he reminded to the newspaper The Nation, Giampiero Danti, referent of Saf Abetone, it was from the early 1980s that this did not happen:
“I remember that in ’79 -’80 we opened the plants on November 19th”
Always according to Danti’s words, both the Ovovia pole and the Pulicchio pole can be opened this Saturday. From Saturday you can ski on school camps in Val di Luce, but also on the higher ones of the Gomito and the Annibale Pass.
If the tests can be completed, Saturday and Sunday will also work open the Selletta and Riva chairlifts, but it is not yet sure about the opening of the Gomito Skylift.
After this Saturday, all named facilities should reopen every day since Saturday November 25th … snow permitting.
Installations will also be opening in Doganiccia di Cutigliano which, thanks to its 80 cm of snow, provides for the beginning of the season.
With these early colds and the first snowstorms, the ski fever has begun to rise, and many enthusiasts have contacted Saf and Apm for more information, explains President Rolando Galli.
Unfortunately, Abetone’s cross-country skiing track will not be able to open, while the Sci Montagna Pistoiese association is working hard to make the Maresca track available.
Great news especially for those who would like to take advantage of this first weekend of skiing to combine sport tourism with cultural and enogastronomic tourism thanks to the proximity of the village of Cutigliano, the picturesque village of the high Apennine Apennines.
