In Tropea, say it with a flower. In the picturesque Calabrian village back the competition Windows, balconies, flowering alleys Anna Maria Piccioni – City of Tropea, now in its 12th edition. A “green” competition dedicated to the memory of the Umbrian painter who, in the shadow of the rock on which stands the famous sanctuary of Santa Maria dell’Isola, lived and taught for many years.
The contest aims to enhance the most evocative views of the seaside town thanks to the display of plants and flowers on the balconies, the windows and the alleys of the historic center.
«Re-launching the competition dedicated to Anna Maria Piccioni, an unforgettable artist and dear friend, is a reason for me to gratify and motivate – said the mayor Giovanni Macrì – the aims of the initiative (to grow together involving citizens, enhancing the beauty of the city, foster a sense of belonging), are perfectly in line with the administration’s program. The day when every tropeano will become aware of the immense patrimony of which it disposes protecting it, cultivating it, but above all putting itself in game in first person, the malaise that we live today will disappear completely. Only together can we really grow».
