Autumn is the perfect season for a weekend getaway to discover Italy’s most picturesque and authentic villages. This year, Trenitalia (FS Group) returns to inspire travelers with the launch of the new edition of the Travel Book Borghi del Regionale, an initiative created in collaboration with the association of I Borghi più belli d’Italia and designed for those who want to explore places far from the daily chaos, but rich in history, traditions and natural beauty. And what could be better than doing so aboard regional trains, with the assurance of a comfortable, sustainable and fascinating journey?

A new way to travel

The Borghi travel book is a new exclusive guidebook that offers tips and suggestions for discovering some of Italy’s most enchanting and well-known villages, all of which can be easily reached by train. With the new Travel Book Regionale wants to encourage slow tourism, which enhances the cultural and natural heritage of our country, while reducing the environmental impact of travel.

The selected villages are those that can be reached by regional trains and entered the Borghi più belli d’Italia circuit after the release of the first edition of the travel book. But the Travel Book Borghi del Regionale is not just a travel guide: it is also an invitation to experience a journey that merges with the discovery of a part of Italy that, often, remains off the major tourist circuits.
