erected in the XIII century and transformed in the sixteenth century in a splendid Renaissance residence, the castle of Piobbico presents itself today as a complex of buildings stretched on the ridge of the rock that dominates the center of the large basin where stretches the village. Entered in the residence stands out the courtyard of honor, designed by the architect Baccio Pontelli and built by Count Guido Antonio the Brancaleoni, captain of the Duke Federico da Montefeltro.
This rectangular courtyard, surrounded by an arched portico supported by doric columns, recalls the widest and most majestic courtyard of the palace of Urbino. Inside the palace it is possible to admire the room of count Antonio II said Greek chamber. The room is frescoed with episodes of history and Greek mythology realized in 1585 by Giorgio Peaks, sculptor durantino, while the plasters are the work of the school of Brandani, because the sculptor who died in 1575, was not able to finish the work.
In the halls of the palace have today seat of the Museo Civico Brancaleoni and the permanent exhibition of dresses and jewels of the collection Alessandro Righi Luperti.
