Arrone

In the middle of Valnerina and near the splendid Marmore waterfall, this medieval village is dominated by a castle. An ancient village made welcoming by the flowers that color the streets of the town. Still today Arrone reflects the medieval defensive structure. The town, in fact, is surrounded by a system of towers and walls to defend the road that connected the area of Rieti with that of Spoleto.

Arrone, particolare della morte della Vergine

the first nucleus of the village of Arrone corresponds exactly to the Castle was built by a Roman nobleman who wore the same name, at the end of the IX century. The fief of the noble family of the Arroni came later to extend from Papigno to S. Pietro in Valle, from Miranda to Labbro from Piediluco to Melaci and Polino.
