Bourcet

The valley of the small mountain village of Bourcet, studded with ruins and small villages perched on its slopes, takes its name from its main town, Bourcet, a small perch of stone houses, almost entirely abandoned. The village, very simple, in stone, houses the Serafin refuge, where in summer it becomes a stop for hikers. In addition, the valley is very popular with climbing enthusiasts, thanks to its impervious slopes and rock walls that dot the lower part especially.

The valley of the small mountain village of Bourcet (also called Chasteiran), encrusted ruins and small villages perched on its slopes, takes its name from its main inhabited, Bourcet, small encroachment of stone houses, almost entirely abandoned, around the sixties of the twentieth century, after centuries of troubled history.

But today ever more alive thanks to the tenacity of Ivo, which for some years has been involved in giving new life to the village through the cultivation of potatoes of mountain, officinal herbs and berries. The village is very simple, in stone, also welcomes the refuge Serafin, summer stage and refuge for hikers. The Vallone is much frequented by enthusiasts of climbing, thanks to its inaccessible slopes and rock walls that dot the species the low part.

We advise you to visit it in September in concomitance of "Autumn and Potatoes", the Feast of the Potato. Awaits You a real dive in the traditions and flavors of the place, to the discovery of the ancient instruments of cultivation and the flavors of autochthonous potato mountain, from piatlina until the vitellot noire, without forgetting a taste of gofri, the typical Piedmontese waffles coming from mountain tradition in these valleys.

The cliff of Roure
different sectors and 32 monotiri with difficulty ranging from 4° to 7° degree offer a climbing very varied. Access is very easy and only takes a few minutes, leaving the car at the first hairpin bend of the dirt road that rises to the borgata Chambellier (crossroad is located 50 m. after the turning for Bourcet) and following the yellow stamps is reached at the first sector.

Murals of Roure
Castel del Bosco, Roreto, Balma and Villaretto are the four main fractions of the town and offer the visitor the four paths that represent the ancient traditions and activities of the place. The paths are accompanied by thematic murals where are shown different scene from everyday life then: Castel del Bosco is located 27 murals with "The history of bread", At Roreto 34 on "the crafts and trades", Balma 34 on "mines of talc" and Villaretto 30 on "The rearing of animals". The murals can be visited at any time, as the free visit allows to move independently through the four villages.

You can reach the beautiful Vallone di Bourcet with two itineraries that well they understand how only thanks to small settlements between crests and ridges could escape to the risk of avalanches. A said of this valley, where life was very hard and agriculture was the livelihood of families, is "Three months of winter and six months of Hell".
