Cervara di Roma

Perched on the slopes of the Simbruini Mountains and about 70 km from Rome, stands the picturesque village of Cervara, inhabited by less than 500 residents. The village has the highest historical centre in the province of Rome and because of its location has always been considered the entrance to the Simbruini Mountains Regional Nature Park. Its particular name comes from the fact that this area was once densely populated by deer, which today can only rarely be seen in the nearby park.
Because of its spectacular beauty, Cervara di Roma has always attracted many artists from abroad, including Joseph Anton Koch, Bartolomeo Pinelli, Ernest Hà©bert and Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot.
