The Shrine of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was strongly desired by the inhabitants and in particular by don Francesco Lombardi, the parish priest of the earthquake. The Sanctuary was built in the style of bramantesco, place a 97 m a.s.l., high 46 meters wide and 37; for its implementation were involved 3 engineers: Maurizio Dafour of Genoa, Salvatore Bruno of Sampierdarena and Giacomo Picconi of Sanremo, who concluded. On top of the sanctuary the cross high 5 meters and the statue of the Sacred Heart, high 3 and a half meters are visible even at a distance of several kilometers.
Inside the church are kept works of many artists of the age who cooperated in the embellishment of the majestic structure: the high altar is the work of sculptor Domenico Carli, the pulpit of Cesare Zonca, La Cantoria by John Minia, the baptismal font of Biamonti. To admire the Grotto of Lourdes, work of Luca Casella and Paul Alberto, the external mosaics made by the brothers Salviati, with the supervision of Piero Saccano, the same that he has directed the execution of the mosaics of the basilica of San Marco in Venice.
The most important works of the sanctuary are the statue of the Sacred Heart, carried out by the brothers Bertarelli of Milan, sacred effigy of Blessed Mary Margaret Mary Alacoque, work of Raffaele Resio, which is also dedicated to the altar, what strikes the visitor is undoubtedly the grandiose fresco, large well 56 meters and depicting the Calvary, the work of Paolo Gaidano. Always inside there are two side chapels, performed by Giuseppe Gallo, while the altar dedicated to the Souls of Purgatory is the work of sculptors Pogliaghi and Paleni.
