Grotta del Vento in Fornovolasco, located in the heart of the Apuan Alps Park, is among the most morphologically and evolutionarily complete tourist caves in Italy. Characterized by stalagmites and crystal-covered lakes, it offers a choice of three different underground tourist itineraries, one of which (3rd itinerary) is by duration the longest in Italy.
Grotta del Vento is among the few to be open every day of the year (except December 25), making it an ideal destination for individuals, couples, families, groups, etc. During the guided tour, you can admire the wonderful limestone formations that took millions of years to form. The beauty of the cave is enhanced by the presence of an underground river that flows inside the cave.
The origin of the name comes precisely from the constant presence of air currents inside the cavity, due to the difference in temperature between the outside and inside of the cave. The temperature, in the innermost parts, is throughout the year +10.7° C, a value corresponding to the annual average outside.
The experience of visiting the Wind Cave is unique and unforgettable, thanks to the variety of routes offered and the beauty of the natural formations present. Highly recommended to include it in the list of attractions to visit in Tuscany.
