The inside of the MAV are exhibited about 800 objects, between articles of use and sculptures that testify to the evolution of the handicraft tradition in Val d’Aosta.
The objects are inserted in a modern decor and timeless that in his “neutrality” of colors and spaces gives every single product strong expressive power. The punctual lights, objects with extreme simplicity and the absence of glasses make the visitor feels really in close contact with the heritage, fully living the emotion of the meeting or the charm of history. Texts, images and movies help to characterize the space and the different thematic areas.
The central idea of the museum is that of providing educational paths where the user can be transformed into an active protagonist and move away from a passive experience to take children to live to the full the experience museum. In a true and own shop to child measure with workbenches, saws, Trapani and hammers, children can live the experience of feeling “artisans for a day”. The activities encourage contact with the raw material and introduce the children in the world of the “do”, stimulating their manual ability and creative aimed to share the joy of building alone wooden toys originals, freely inspired by the artifacts of the museum collection. The MAV organizes both workshops addressed to schools, from nursery school to secondary school of the second degree, is aimed at families with a fixed appointment per week.
The MAV is composed of six contiguous spaces whose staging accompanies us ideally along the slide of a day. The exhibition begins with a section dedicated to the subject: a brief tactile path in which visitors are invited to familiarize yourself with the handicrafts and with its materials, develops through different environments: the domestic space, the outside, sociability , poetry and a space dedicated to temporary exhibitions. The sociality represents the common life: the oven, the dairy, the Church: places of the community meeting places for excellence. Poetry instead shows us the testimonies and the sculptures that highlight the most staff, emotional and sensitive of the craftsman. To close the path an area totally renovated in the forms, where contemporary becomes space to accommodate the traditional objects: in this place are organized temporary exhibitions.
