The Montalcino Fortress was built in 1361 by Mino Foresi and Domenico di Feo, riutilizzando partly previous thirteenth century structures. In the mid-sixteenth century became the last bastion of resistance of the Sienese Republic against the Medici’s conquest. From this period dates the spur outside.
The visitor can access from the internal courtyard to the bastions and towers from where you can enjoy a wonderful panorama.
