The Via Ferrata is an equipped path for scaling the Dolomiti Lucane that allows to reach otherwise inaccessible areas and to discover the great beauty of this place. According to the highest standards, there are two paths articulating respectively along the rocky ridges of Castelmezzano and Pietrapertosa. It is classifiable as EEA difficult, with an articulated path on channels and walkways, vertical passages and portions in exposure. The two branches of the path starting from the roman bridge located in the vicinity of the equipped area “Antro delle Streghe” and climb toward one inside and the other toward Pietrapertosa. The two sections that compose the Via Ferrata delle Dolomiti Lucane are: the Via Ferrata Salemm on the slope of Castelmezzano has a length of 1.731 meters and a height difference of 249 meters and the Via Ferrata Marcirosa on the slope of Pietrapertosa has a length of 1.778 meters and a height difference of 331 meters. The point of departure (picnic area ” Antro delle Streghe”, on the “Path of the seven stones”) is located in a large clearing downstream de course of the Rio Caperrino, a tributary of the Basento that cuts in half the space that divides the slopes corresponding to the two countries. The Via Ferrata Salemm,equipped path on the slope of Castelmezzano,has a length of about 1.731 meters and is a difference in height of about 249 meters and is divided into a path toward the via ferrata with departure from the roman bridge up to the attack of the equipped route. The length of the trail is approximately 739 meters and the difference in height is approximately 34 meters,the journey time is 45 minutes. Another equipped path with a length of approximately 992 meters and a height difference of 215 meters, journey time of 2 hours and a trail of distancing that leads to the municipal road fishponds, located in the immediate vicinity of the historic center for a length of 180 meters with trend almost flat,journey time 15 minutes. The Via Ferrata Marcirosa, equipped path on the slope of Pietrapertosa ,has a length of 1.778 meters and a height difference of 331 meters and is divided into: a path toward the Via Ferrata with departure from the roman bridge up to the attack of the equipped route. An equipped path with a length of approximately 862 meters and a climb of about 276 meters. Along the same are positioned two Tibetan bridges of light 7and 10 meters,journey time of 2 hours and 20 minutes. Finally a path leads to the station of departure of the Flight of the Angel of Pietrapertosa. There is also a Nepalese bridge that connects the two points of departure of the Vie Ferrate Salemm (Castelmezzano) and Marcirosa (Pietrapertosa). Length Nepalese Bridge: 72 meters. Maximum height from the ground 35 meters at 650 meters above sea level. The Nepalese bridge can be path up to 15 people at the same time, and must be always path safely hooked to the line of life with a special kit from ferrata(diameter line life 25mm).
