Marchesale Palace and Municipal Library

The Marchesale Palace is an imposing building dating back to the 18th century. Located in the heart of Pisciotta’s historic center, between Via Roma and Via Vette, the palace stands out majestically thanks to its imposing architectural structure.

Access to the structure is through a long, narrow alleyway that leads to the main atrium. Even from the outside, the facade of the palace is of considerable architectural interest, with its sandstone details enhancing its beauty.

Inside the atrium, a wide staircase also made of sandstone stands out, leading to the upper floors. The panorama that can be admired from the large windows leaves one breathless: one can see the typical centuries-old olive trees of the Cilento region that stretch as far as the sea of Marina di Pisciotta.

Erected by the Pappacoda family, the last feudal lords of the town, today Palazzo Marchesale is partly inhabited and houses the Municipal Library.

The Municipal Library is a real gem for lovers of history and culture. Inside are numerous ancient books, historical documents and rare manuscripts that tell the story of the Cilento area and beyond.

The Palace can be partially visited and is a must-see destination for all those who want to discover the beauty of Cilento and the thousand-year history of Pisciotta.
