Inside a new wing of the Vicarial Palace of Scarperia there’s the seat of the Cutting Tools Museum, inaugurated in 1999, where it is documented the activity of the centuries of the cutlers scarperiesi.
The decor is articulated in 5 thematic sections: the first multimedia character, presents Movies relating to the craftsmanship of the knife, the second is dedicated to italian cutlery and its production centers from the end of the nineteenth century up to our days, the third instead to the history of the cutlers in Scarperia.
The fourth section entitled “Blades for women”, has another category of sharp blades: scissors for embroidery and tailoring. The fifth section is devoted to social life, and is periodically changed with reconstructions affecting moments of the life of the territory.
The museum proposes a visit active through video, didactic panels and a bench where the visitor can undertake in mounting the knife.
It is possible to conclude the museum tour outside the walls of the palace, with the help of a guide, visiting the ancient Bottega del Cutler, active from the beginning of the twentieth century until the 1970s, today completes its tools and useful in the manufacture of handmade scissors and knives, and used on request and on the occasion of local events for demonstrations of processing.
